About Our Shows

The Guns of the Golden West provide flexible entertainment which may be orientated for all types of audiences and for a variety of different events. Our shows typically involve 5 to 8 performers, and can be customized to include aspects clients would like to see as part of the show. The general basis for most of our shows involves a 10 to 15 minute old west shootout skit, accompanied by a 10-15 minute skills show, exhibiting demonstrations of old west Pistolero skills such as fast draw, trick shooting, and gun spinning. We often also provide safety a demonstration on the blank ammunition we use, which is akin to that used in the motion picture industry. After the show is complete, guests are welcomed to take pictures with us and get a closer look at our Victorian-era costuming and gear.

Our involvement in an event may be adaptable, and our presence can be tailored to suit the needs of the event. Our appearance can consist of simply a presence for “color” to enhance the western atmosphere of an event, adding some old west feel without the discharge of blank ammunition. Alternatively, our appearance may involve a skit only, or both a skit and skills demonstration.

Our shows can involve the audience or be done as a stand-alone feature more theatrical in composition. Shows can be planned as a scheduled part of an event or done as a fun, unexpected surprise for guests. We are able to perform shows indoor or outdoor in venues that are small or large. Though the summer months are typically the busiest, we are active all year long and available for all types of events, both public and private.

We are also a knowledge and resource base for material related to the settlement era of the Western Americas generally known as the time period of the “old west,” and can be consulted as a reference for information on period events, historical figures, clothing, firearms, gear, ways of life, customs, colloquialisms, etc. that concern both Canada and the United States. This is often useful function for entities such as independent film and theatrical productions looking to draw from our knowledge and resource base. The production crew of the Calgary-based independent film “Dead Walkers” found our resources and skills as armourers useful in the production of their 2009-released zombie western film.
